For further explanation, see the info below under "Snapshot of weekly worship."
We have three Scripture readings.
First, to open the worship service, a psalm or psalm portion is read as our call to worship.
Second, we read a chapter of the Old Testament.
Third, we read a chapter of the New Testament.
We have three songs.
The first is taken from a growing rotation of songs and tunes we know as a congregation.
The second is the next psalm or psalm portion in consecutive psalm singing.
The third is either a song and tune we are learning as a congregation, or is particular to the service.
We have three prayers.
The first prayer is of approach to God, confession of sin, and request for help and blessing during worship.
The second is prior to the sermon, typically including request for the speaker and the listener, and prayers for our congregation, the wider church, and the magistrate.
The third prayer concludes the service with confession of sin concerning the sermon topic, and seeking grace to apply it well, and request for help throughout the week.
We have three times of teaching.
The first two are brief explanatory notes made on the Scripture chapters read, usually with basic lessons and applications drawn out.
The third is the sermon itself, which includes preaching, namely the exposition & application of the Scripture to the flock. This includes exhortation, admonition, refutation, and other like things.
The sacraments are two: baptism and the Lord's supper.
Baptism is administered either to those who profess faith and/or their household, when necessary. We use water and sprinkling.
The Lord's supper is administered to the flock generally, with a warning and call joined to it. We use a common loaf of bread and a common cup of wine.
